Hooray, we are excited you may be upgrading to Fiber. Fiber is truly the fastest available technology for delivering Internet Service. Nothing else can compare to the speed and latency of Fiber.
What to expect when 186networks is ready to install fiber to your business or residence.
Stages of Fiber installation with 186networks
- Determine service address and location. After first contact with 186networks, 186networks will determine your location and what install and service options you may have. We will also determine if your location is considered “On-Net” or “Off-Net”. Customer will need to agree to the Terms of Service, the Acceptable Use Policy
- We will schedule a service technician to do a site survey of your property to determine the best path for your service installation. Customer will need to be home at the time of visit. The service technician will go over the recommended route that the fiber will be run between the residence or business and the nearest 186networks splice location. At this time we will also need to know where all non-utilities are underground, such as Septic drain field, Septic System, Septic Pipes, Electrical Services to and from outbuildings, sprinklers systems, invisible dog fences and anything else that we need to be made aware of. We will have the customer signoff on our liability waiver, the agreed upon path for the Fiber cable and estimated install cost.
- Next the install date will be scheduled and Miss Dig will be notified to come out to mark the public utilities. Missdig usually responds within 3 business days of time of notification. You may see multiple utility trucks putting flags and painting lines on your property. After the utilities are marked, do not mess with the markings in any way. We will need these markings to further determine and locate where the utilities are within your property and the road right away.
- Installation of Service. See below for details on installation costs and policies.
- Post Installation, your account will be setup with a customer supplied credit card for autopayment. First months of service plus installation fees will need to be paid prior to installation technician leaving the residence or business. Account access can be accessed in the 186networks portal. Username will be your email address, password can be setup on the account at time of creation, or can be reset through the portal. If further service is needed or any help, please call the office at 888-299-0071 or use our contact form.
- Post Installation – Important –. Please contact Missdig at phone ‘811’ and also let 186networks know of any underground work on your property or any machinery that may disrupt the ground. Customer is responsible for any line that is cut within customers property. Contacting Missdig will let whomever know what to look for and dodge when disrupting the ground.
